Information for Parents

From the desk of Sister Mary Jeanne, O.C.D.

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to be back at Little Flower, which has such a special place in my heart. I was privileged to serve here in 1996-1998 and am looking forward to another exciting, eventful and most of all a blessed year! The wonder and joy on the faces of the children is a great reminder of the Lord’s counsel that we imitate their simple sense of trust and confidence.

Little Flower has a long and richly blessed history. The Carmelite Sisters, together with all of you, co-workers, families, friends, and gracious benefactors, continue to build on that blessed heritage. This year we will plan to further beautify and develop our campus and to enrich our children’s curriculum. I am not sure who will have more fun in that process – we or the children!

I returned to Little Flower as administrator on August 1. In my short time here, I have already met many wonderful parents, staff, and benefactors who all share the common interest of providing the best opportunities for Little Flower’s children. We have all heard the African proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” This can be applied to what we are doing here at Little Flower – all of us, working together, are laying a foundation for our children. We know that these building blocks will serve them throughout their lives.

I will just take a brief moment to introduce myself. I was born in Worcester, Massachussets, and came to California with my parents and brother when I was 10 years old. I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, where my parents, who just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary, still reside. I am blessed to have served in healthcare, education, retreats and at our Motherhouse at Sacred Heart Retreat House in Alhambra. I also have the privilege of serving as the Archivist of the Carmelite Sisters.

In 2012, Sister Mary Paul and I will celebrate our Golden Jubilee in Carmel ~ 50 joy-filled and abundantly blessed years. I look forward to meeting and speaking with you personally as together we continue to make Little Flower’s history.
